Is this where it ends? Need Advice from "experienced" Bands

Recommended Posts

I have been banded for almost 2 months. (Aug 5) I lost 17 pounds on the "infamous" liquid diet right afterwards. That was great~ BUT thats where it ended. I have not lost nor gained any since then. I had my first fill a week and a half ago. (4 cc's in an 11 cc band) I still weigh the same. I dont get my second fill till the begining of November.

I have to be careful, because I can eat a good amount, but don't feel that full feeling until about 20 minutes after im done eating. If I eat too much, then I feel yucky. Will that full feeling come sooner to me as I get more restriction with more fills?

The nutritionist mentioned that usualy the weight comes off a lot easier after the second fill. I sure hope something more happens more when I get it. Has anyone noticed this to be true? I am getting realy discouraged. Not even my in-laws noticed any weight loss this weekend and they last saw me right before the surgery. I guess 17 pounds doesnt "look" a lot different. They still dont know.. I just figured something would be said about me looking like I have lost some weight. :( Oh well~

For me it took the 3rd fill where I really felt it and began to loose. Don't be discouraged, this is a process and a lifestyle change. Give your body time to adjust and get used to it! It gets better I promise! :scared2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
