3 days post operation

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Thursday, September 24th and it's really kicked my butt. I am still having gas pains but walking does help, but I am now fighting indigestion last night and today. Is this normal? I can't hardly drink any Water because it makes me feel sick to my stomach. I can stomach the broth and can eat some of the Jello, but this to can make me feel sick. I'm so afraid of dehyrdation. Is this a normal feeling after 3 days?

Hi:

Pain medication makes me feel sick to my stomach. If you're still taking pain meds you might want to consider switching to just liquid tylenol. That did the trick for me. If you do stop drinking, or can't get liquids down, please call your doctor. Dehydration is bad, bad, bad.

Hope you feel better soon.

Sue

Hi, I too was banded on the 24th. I had some of that last night. Try sticking with just Protein and Water for a few days. I thought I would try broth and I think it was just too much liquid. I never made my quota for water and Protein yesterday. Today I am doing better, so we'll see what the evening brings. congrats on your band.

Welcome to bandland -- it gets much better quickly after surgery! But, you should DEFINITELY check in with your doctor about how you are feeling now. It may well be 100% fine, but you should confirm that with the doctor.

I hope you feel much better soon!

Catherine

I was also banded on the 24th. Today has been my best day yet although I am still struggling with gas pain and indigestion. I think the indigestion is coming from not eating enough as I can get down about 10 teaspoons of liquid and then i'm really full....maybe that's why the extra gas pain?!?!

I, too had the surgery on Sept. 24! I am actually feeling hungry a lot of the time! Is this normal??? Once I eat or drink something, it subsides for a bit. I am surprised I'm hungry.

How is everyone feeling today. Today is now day 4, i'm feeling pretty good but have some dizziness today. Had some Jello this morn with sugar, hoping that was it. Trying hard to get all my stuff in today. Pain is really almost gone except for port pain. That will be around for a while.

Just checking in.

The sugar free popsicles are good for helping with getting hydration. The coolness just somehow makes you feel better and you don't really feel like you're drinking. I'm starting week two post op and I still snag a pop now and then when I'm tired of h2O. :smile2:

I am so thrilled! My Dr. advanced me to stage 2 today! I had a teeny bit of yogurt this morning, but to be honest, it made me have acid indigestion. A few hours later I had a little bit of a slim fast! I am not hungry now at all! I am looking so forward to having some creamy Soup later!

I felt really dizzy and light headed the first few days too! So glad to have some Protein in my body! Especially since I am going back to work tomorrow and I am a teacher! I need energy!!

Feel good everyone!

Gatorade will be your best friend through this stage. I have had lots of diarrhea (sorry if TMI) and that has saved me from dehydration. I think at this point, its trial and error on what will give you some relief. HANG IN THERE!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
