lap band slip?! 300 miles away and in need of advice.

Recommended Posts

PLEASE HELP!

I have had my band for 2 1/2 years and have thrown up maybe 3 times, twice in the past month.

This evening i got really sick and i think i felt my band slip. Can you actually feel it slip, or was probably that something else?

should i call my doctor right away? or should i go on liquids for a bit and see how i feel?

I am not at all in pain (feel a lot better then before) but i am really worried.

i need help, i am 300 miles away from my doctor and would REALLY like to avoid seeing a stranger if possible.

thank you so much.

You need to see your doctor, but if you are keeping liquids down I don't think it is an emergency. Until you know for sure, it might be a good idea to stick to a full liquid/soft stuff diet so you don't get anything stuck.

Good luck and please let us know how you do.

Mimi

Don't chance it. Go to get it checked out. Mine slipped and started killing my stomach. A slipped band can cause serious problems. I had mine removed last March. Looking to get it put back in. It's still a good tool. Just dont' take problems lightly.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
