My date has been changed from the 17th to Oct 28 because my father is dying.

I hope all of this stress and grief does not stop my eventual surgery. I need prayers.

Hi everyone

Firstly, thanks Eileen for starting and continuing such a wonderful thread smile.gif

Well, it's a week tomorrow since I was banded. It seems a lifetime ago lol. Sorry to have taken a while to get here with an update, but one day away and soooo much to catch up on.

Everything went very smoothly. I was under by 8am and back in my bed by 11.30am. Home the next day. There were three of us in the same room all banded by the same doctor, so the next day we had a little chat which was nice.

I'm surprised at how little pain there is. I had no shoulder tip pain at all and only pain where the incisions are. I haven't taken any pain medication for two days and feel fine. I should mention I have a very low pain threshold.

The liquids are going down fine, but after two weeks of Optifast pre surgery I am really hanging out for mushies lol. I just want real food nervous.gif

Well good luck to everyone waiting and get well thoughts to everyone healing. And another special thank you to Eileen smile.gif

Betts, WELCOME !! I've added you to the list. HUGS :)

Theresa, glad to hear from you. WOW, you seem to be doing really well. I'm so glad my doc isn't making me do two weeks of liquids b/4 surgery. But then I'm eating like a pig b/c of my nerves...oy.

I don't think anyone is going in until the 20th.

HUGS !!!!

HI there! Can I be added as well??? My band date was October 1st. I'm on day 2 of mushies, and have recovered so well. My incisions are healed and I barely have any pain at all!! I was sore the first day after surgery, but had no shoulder pain, and very little gas pain at all. Everything went smoothly... the clear liquid stage was rough, and even full liquids was challenging, guess I'm just anxious and ready to get to the "restricted and losing" stage!! So impatient... Glad to be among so many others taking the plunge!! Much success to everyone!!! :-) Laura

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
