Have any of you cheated on your mushy stage? I wasn't hungry at all until I started my mushy stage in fact I thought I wouldn't ever be hungry again hahah. A couple days after I started the mushy stage I got hungry for things not on the diet. Not double cheeseburgers, but rice crispies Cereal. I reasoned with myself that this was one bowl of cereal and it was mushy and as long as I chewed each bite 40 times I would be ok. It went done great and I felt fine. I have cheated a little by eating some veggies( which my doctors says hold off until next week). I also made low cal/ low fat chicken enchilada casserole and I ate that which I know that's REALLY bad, I chewed it very thoroughly and had no problems though. I guess my question is have you cheated on the mushy stage and did you have any adverse reactions from it, or did your doctor yell at you about it. I go to my 2 week check up tomorrow and I'm afraid to tell the nutritionist what I've eaten. I have stayed under 850 calories a day and gotten 70-100 grams of Protein a day. Am I freaking out for nothing?

Every doc has their own protocol, and their own reasoning for it.

Basically the more "regular" food you eat, the more you stomach has to work to digest the food. It has to work and turn and churn to digest more solid foods, which could mess with your stitches. Even if it doesn't do anything immediately, it could have a lasting effect down the road. That is why the docs slowly advance your diet, so that your stomach has enough time to heal.

You should definitely mention it to your nutritionist.

Hi just noticed you were on the mushy stage which means you must have just had surg I have mine in 3 days. How are you feeling since surg are you back to work yet and how are you handling it. Im getting nervous about my surg so just want to see how others are doing that have recently got the band and if they are happy with it.

My Dr told me that if I can't do the stages for the full 7 days it would be ok for me to do 5, (at least 5) and then go to the next.

He did say that if I felt hungry after eating 1 cup of food I should call him because I would need a fill, 1 cup is the limit on eating, 3 times a day.

I am scheduled for Friday so I guess I can't tell how I will do until the time comes, but I would call the Dr if you are hungry and see if you do need a fill.

I didn't answer your post but it's because I didn't see my response up there...

No I didn't cheat on mushies because I cheated preop and didn't get my band the first time out. I learned my lesson. I didn't cheat after that, because I didn't want to. I was hungry. It wasn't "because my doc told me no"...it was because I didn't want to hurt myself, or cause a slip.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
