I have been here a long time but this is my first post. I am attending my first seminar tomorrow afternoon!! I am so ready to get this thing going. My wife is totally behind me and we had the talk with my parents tonight. They were surprisingly supportive. That makes me feel so much better. In fact they both want to go to the seminar with us tomorrow. Anyway, I will keep everyone updated with my progress!!!

Welcome. I think it is a good idea for them to come along. I am now finishing the second day of my pre-op diet and will get banded 9/23. Seemed like the Journey started a while ago but it has gone quick. This is a great site with lots of support, and I can't think of a question that you can't get answered here. Best of luck. If you end up deciding to move forward I would suggest grabbing a copy of weight loss surgery for dummies. It is a good book that lays out alot of what you are looking at doing. Good Luck

Welcome! Congrats on having the support of your family--it's so important to have people in your corner with something as life altering as this (which is why I love this board so much). I hope you enjoy the seminar. Lots of luck to you on your journey!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
