i have a leak ......someone experience with it?

Recommended Posts

hi everyone

today i found out i have a leak somwhere in the system.

the contrast medium did not show the leak. it seems the leak is too small to show like that. now an op is suggested to find it and fix it. now i'm completely unblocked. i'm hungery all the time...havn't lost any weight ...worse i gaint some. going through it all again? can't belive it is happening to me. anyone any experience with this? off cause i have to pay again. depending if they have to change the port or the complete system it will cost between 2.000 and 7.000 dollars. how does one cope with that only 5 weeks after the first op? thanks

If it is only 5 weeks post op I'd agitate for a discount at least. Usually the leak is in the port or tubing so it's not as severe as having the whole surgery again. However...didn't your doc give you any guarantees? Most self pay patients over here get some hedge against necessary re-surgeries. Will your doc waive his fee?

It shouldn't just "leak"; it was either faulty to begin with or the doc accidentally punctured something so you need to share the blame around.

Anyway yes it does happen and its generally, from what I read, an easy fix.

I saw another post, somewhere on here, about someone having the same problem. The company that manufactured her band either reimbursed her for the cost of the band, or the surgeon submitted it for a reimbursement. I don't know how much that was, but apparently the band was "guaranteed" for one year.

If you know what kind of band you have, you can look on the band's website for information.

I am also having a problem with leaking. I had my first fill on august 5th they put in 5cc. Went on Sep 2 for 2nd fill and they only got 2 out. They put 5cc in on wednesday, and went for fluro on thursday and they could only get 3 out. Of course this is giving me no restriction at all. They did the dye but could not find the leak so it must be a small one. They filled me up with 6cc and schedulded me for a recheck in 2 weeks. I guess if they can't get the 6cc out then back to surgery. The problem is the Doctor told me because they cant isolate exactly where the leak is the whole thing needs to be replaced. I am so depressed about this as I can imagine you are. My insurance did cover the cost of my surgery but not sure they are willing to do it again. Good luck to you I am waiting to find out my status next week

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
