carbonated beverages

Recommended Posts

My Dr says no cokes whatsoever and I am reading 4 different books about Lap band and they also say no cokes. Some say the carbonation is bad for the pouch. Trust me if I thought there was a way to drink it I would but I do not want to waste my money spent. There should be some information if you go under the search section and type in drinking cokes and check posts.

In my surgeons instructions it says you can try it after 2 months post-op but it may cause discomfort... everyone is different, my suggestion is try it and see how you feel.

I took a big sip of my fiance's dr.pepper in a dark movie theater last week by mistake (thought it was my tea!) and let me tell ya, it was the most uncomfortable feeling I have experienced with the band, worse than getting stuck, gas or PB'ing, PLUS it tasted horrible to me.. I was uncomfortable for almost an hour.... The coke you knew and loved won't taste the same to you no matter if you can drink it or not... I didn't find the taste or the feeling of it in my mouth pleasant at all!!!!

Do what your doc says. You are WAY new to the band. Focus on getting the mechanics down, following your docs orders, getting to goal. Once you're well healed and cruising, see what your doc tells you. Once I was one year out mine told me I could begin adding carbonated bevs back in if they didn't cause me pain or discomfort, but I followed his advice and am doing really well with no other issues.

Right now you're still very "new" to the lifestyle. Give your body a chance to adapt. You have a long life ahead; going without diet sodas, sodas, and beer won't hurt you for a little while and you'll lose weight better if you don't indulge (esp in the ones w/empty calories)

I say absolutely not. It isn't good for your new stomach; it creates gas and believe me you'll have enough trouble with that to not want to add to it.

What's more, it is calories and sugar that your changing body can do without.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
