Is this a Band thing?

Recommended Posts

WooHoo - I just got my first fill on Tuesday and I'm excited! I don't know if I have restriction yet - I guess I'm not absolutely sure what it is supposed to "feel" like. But, a few days ago, I did start to feel something odd and I don't know if it's a band thing (or if it has something to do with the nasty cold I'm getting over).

I feel like I have something sitting at the back of my throat all the time. It doesn't hurt, and it doesn't feel like something is stuck, it's just....there. It seems to be more noticable after I eat, so I'm not sure if it has to do with the band or not.

So, how did you all know when/if you needed another fill? They put 3.5 cc in my Realize band and told me that I looked really tight. But, I was able to eat normal foods the next day and I haven't had any bad experiences yet. I limit myself to 1 cup of food and that will usually keep me satisfied for about 4 or 5 hours. But, I feel like I could probably eat more without a problem - especially if you sat me down somewhere like Maggiano's.

Sorry, I don't know what to tell you except to say I don't have that feeling, and haven't ever had it. If it doesn't go away as your cold symptoms abate, maybe ask your doc?

You will know when you have true restriction and you won't be able to eat after a certain point no matter how much you would like to!! I'm totally unfilled right now but thankfully haven't got that raving appetite back yet!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
