Hey everyone!

I'm Hunzi and I'm a new person here. I've been researching lapbands for about 2 years now, and finally picked up the phone and called my doctor and asked for a referal to the surgeon. Yay me!

I'm 40 yrs old, married since birth (or so it seems), 2 kids, 16 & 11. I've been a Mary Kay Consultant for 17 years now, and I love helping women look better and feel better about themselves.

I'm about 278lbs. My highest weight was about 3 years ago at 298. That's when I decided I really needed help. I got on Xenical, exercised my butt off, and did it all while following Weight Watchers. I lost 40 lbs then stalled out, eventually began to loosen up my habits again then 15lbs of it came back. I have pretty much kept off the last 20lbs, so I feel that's a small SV.

I've taken the first steps towards banding. I've talked to my PCM, I called the surgeon's office and got on the seminar list, I've phoned my PCM and made an appt for all the pre-op tests, and phoned the psychologist about getting an appointment for the psych evaluation. I've also ordered and been testing out all sorts of Protein shakes and drinks so I'll know which ones I like. so far I like the chocolate ones (duh!), and the Isopure liquids.

Welcome to Lap Band Territory!! Always glad to have another new friend and supporter here. I think you find this group to be sooooo awesome. They give tons of support and really great advice. But sometimes we just have fun and games! I love it here, hope you do as well.

Hi there Hunzi~

Welcome to LBT.

You've come to the greatest place for Lap Band support. They talk about anything and everything here, which makes this place one of my favorite spots on the net.

Anywho, hope everything goes well for you and your surgery.

See you around. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
