My doctor's office uses the Fluoro to do fills but recently I went to another doctor closer to my house who does not use it - he said that he found that if fluoro is used the band gets filled tighter than it should - okay, my question is without seeing it on the fluoro how could they possibly know what to put in without guessing based on what you are telling them.

I've had 5 fills--the first and the last ones were done under fluro. The other ones were done in the office and the PA had me drink Water (thank god, not that nasty stuff) and she said when I felt like belching to let her know

So, it's really just guessing based on what you are telling them

Thanks - I was wondering how they could know without guessing. The doctor that doesn't use it is one of the top in Dallas so I was surprised that he didn't think it was necessary. He has two offices and doesn't have one in either office. I did notice, however, that if they use it the fills are $250 but the office that doesn't use it is only $100 for fills.

I felt pretty confident with my PA the first time she did the fill in the office--I raised my shirt, she felt around for about 4 seconds and then put the needle in

No messing around, she knew exactly where she was going

Are are benefits to having fills done under fluoro. They can check for slips or tell if your pouch is stretched or dilated.

I though it was better to have fills done under fluoro so that the port tubing isn't punctured during the fill.

Fluoro is not used here in Australia or if it is only rarely. I have had 3 fills - one by my surgeon, the other 2 by two of his team. They have all managed to find the port really easily.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
