Can you gulp the water down?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to see if my band is too tight for me. I had my 4th fill 08/24/09. Every time I drink liquid, I can feel it slowly going down. I have to take one sip and wait and cannot do 2-3 sips at one time. The food stuck sometimes but I think because I did not chew it well. I get full faster than before but I am still hungry after 2 hours. One time I was eating something spicey and want to a sip of Water and it stucked. Are these things mean that I am too tight?

Thank you so much,

Several months ago, I told my surgeon that it hurt to drink Water. That it felt like it was swirling around in a funnel before it finally made it through the hole. I asked him if he thought I was too tight, and he said no, that I shouldn't try gulping water.

If I gulp Water, it will surely come back up. I can take a few swallows (2-3) at a time, but no more. My swallows are less than they use to be, and I have to drink more frequently, but I don't have to exactly "sip", but gulp - nada.

I don't "glup" anything either but I also find that cold liquids go down the slowest and drinking, even just a sip, with or shortly after food is a big mistake-for me...

My surgeon has always said as long as you CAN get Water in and can eat food you are not to tight, i personally feel im at perfect restriction. I can drink a mouthful at a time but i have difficulty gulping down several in one go if that makes sense

Hope this helped

I can, and I do, but I shouldn't.

You sound like you are at perfect restriction. My dr said forget about gulping when you have good restriction. He said take a sip, wait until you fill it go down and then take another.

Just a thought, are you eating your Proteins first and then your other stuff? You might stay fuller longer if you are doing that??? I would think that you should stay fuller longer than 2 hours with that kind of restriction???? IDK

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
