Recommended Posts

I go in on Friday for my band and I have preop on Wednesday...I am just kinda scared about the liquid diet and that I am gonna be in pain. Wish me luck!! Hooray for august <3 I am happy I didn't have to wait to have it done on 9/11...lol.

You will be fine, it is natural to be nervous. Think about how far you have come and just be strong, because everything is for a new you and a fresh beginning. This surgery should give you hope, that you can do it! I just had my band in on August 12th and am feeling great and you will soon too!

Amy, you're going to be fine. I had my surgery six days ago and luckily I've had little to no pain at all.

My only advice is to walk, walk, walk after surgery and follow your doctor's instructions.

Tomorrow, I'm going back to work (maybe not all day since I'm still tired) but I'm confident that I'm well enough to go back.

Good luck on Friday and let us know how you're doing.

Good luck Amy! Best wishes and hope you have little or no pain. My day is Thursday - liquid diet is not too bad. I'm not really hungry which is totally weird. You'll be fine!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
