A juicy rib eye steak called to me. I prepared them for my husband and son 2 days before surgery. The Dogs loved me that day; I prepared an extra steak and sat at the kitchen counter away from everyone else (no need in grossing the guys out) and chewed small pieces of my steak, which I then feed to the dogs.

Nope, I didn't swallow any of it, this was probably the best meal the dogs have ever gotten.

It's funny how our perspective changes. At work, we had a potato bar lunch and the food that I wanted most was the salad with fresh tomatoes, broccoli, cucumbers, carrots, croutons, cheese, bacon bits, and ranch dressing. Before my band, I would have been insulted by the mere presence of cold, raw vegetables!

of course, I'd die for one slice of pizza:blush:and the craziest thing is that I'd LOVE to chug two glasses of cold Water.< /p>

So I've been craving pizza for months, even before I had my surgery I really wanted it but my will power prevailed...until last night. I talked myself into getting some pizza. I drove to Taco Bell/Pizza Hut and got in line, next thing I know the woman in front of me put her car into reverse and hit me. Wow, this was a pretty agressive way to be told that I shouldn't be eating pizza! I am so done with anymore thoughts of pizza...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
