Adjusted fill total - now I'm confused

Recommended Posts

Well I went for my 3rd fill today and I left feeling totally confused. It wasn't done by my surgeon but someone else on his team .

1st fill . 1.5ml

2nd fill. 1.ml

3rd fill .6ml

So the total should be 3.1ml right?

She drew what was in there out today before putting it back in and now my total is apparently 2.3ml. I was very confused and concerned that this meant I have a leak but she assured me that I haven't, that this is the adjusted total as they don't pull all the Fluid out.

Would anyone like to explain for me in simple terms what an adjusted fill is?

I was also surprised she put so little in as I have been struggling since the last fill 4 weeks ago but she told me I have lost 2kg (4.4lb) and that is really good!!! She even told me that we need to go slowly as I am close to what I should be. Not sure how she works that out - my BMI is still in the overweight range.

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday, the first time I had the assistant in my appointment and not the surgeon. I thought I was around 5 cc in a 14 cc band, and he said it was 5.9?

first fill 2.5

2nd fill 1.0

3rd .5

4th .5

5th .2

6th .2

When he drew it out it was about 6 (he couldn't get all out but it was close), and put in another .5, whew. My surgeon was going at .2 intervals. I can definitely feel more restriction this morning - finally can only sip that Protein shake rather than drink it...so here's hoping that the restriction continues!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
