The longest three weeks of my life!

Recommended Posts

Excuse me while I vent.

I got my surgery date, after fighting with BCBS to get approved, a week or so ago. I'm scheduled for the 31st. Now that I'm only 2-3 weeks away from the surgery, time seems to be moving EXTRA slow.

I began this process in January when I first made the appointment for the mandatory information seminar. It's been a long, long, LONG road, and I'm ready to FINALLY start my new life. The 31st can't come soon enough.

I'm not a patient person by nature, so I suspect these last 2 weeks are going to be absolutely unbearable.

I'm patient about "bigger pictures" like knowing it will take 2 years to complete my masters degree, no big deal. But when they talked about bumping my surgery back a week, I just couldn't handle that lol

The time will go by slow, but on surgery day it will have gone by fast, make sense? Just try to take the time to mentally prepare yourself for the changes ahead.

Learn to be patient as the band does not work overnight. It is a learning process and patience is key during the first few months. It will happen soon enough! Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
