Hi Mike,

Welcome to the site! I'm not banded yet either, so I can relate to where you are on this journey. There are lots of smart people here who have great advice sometimes when you need it. Good luck and let us know when you get your surgery date.

Joan

Hi Wootsie!

Thanks for the feedback! I am bery happy with this decision and excited for my future. SO many nice people, like yourself, have given me so much positive feedback, and I know how important support is in this journey. We seem to be at the same milepost in this adventure, so it will be interesting to keep in touch and compare thoughts and feelings as we progress.

Hey, GreyTZ!

Thanks for the feedback and congratulations on your progress. I am very excited! I need to get one of those tracker things that I see everybody using to post their progress. Where do you find them?

Thanks! Go to www.tickerfactory.com and set up a password. Pick your ticker then your little tracker and save. Then right click copy. Go to your edit signature under cp on the lefthand side of your profile on the lapband forum and in the lower box right click paste. Go to the bottom of the screen and hit save and you are golden.

Hedy GreyTZ

Thanks for the tip! I found it and I like how I can customize it to how I feel! It's not a race, but a long road that I see myself running. The tracker portrays it perfectly. Thanks again for the information!

Yes, it seems we are sort of in the same place. My surgery has been approved already, but I'm waiting on the hospital where I'm having it done to get their Center of Excellence certification. That's a must with Medicare. I would love to keep in touch on our journey.

Joan

P.S. I don't have a ticker yet, but I'm going to get 1 soon. I guess I will be official then. LOL

Hi Mike !!

Welcome to the website. I'm a lurker....rarely posting, but constantly learning from our posters. (some more-so than others).

I was banded on 4/18/09 by a genius, genuine, kind doctor here in Melbourne Australia. Best thing i've ever done for MYSELF. My life has always surrounded taking care of everyone else. *slaps self on forehead for not taking care of ME a long time ago*

Very well wishes for your journey. Not meaning to hijack a thread, but wanted to check to see if i made my ticker correctly (since you had mentioned it...and i haven't had one before).

Good luck with the pre-approval stuff....hope it goes quickly for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
