I reached my goal and then decided I wanted to lose 17 more pounds. The last bit does not come off easily. You have to really track what goes in your mouth and get in the exercise. I lost 4 of the 17 and that was slow and difficult. For the summer I chose to just maintain but I fully intend to fight off the last 13 pounds, no doubt it will take some work though.

NurseJess....that's me! It seemed like I got to 70 lost with no problem. But at that loss, I hit a weight that I had stayed at for several years and I'm thinking my body just decided it was familiar so it was a good place to stop. After a month, I am just starting to see a little downward movement on the scale. i'm not saying I've broken through this plateau but I'm very hopeful.

I'm not there yet but that was one of the first things that my surgeon (who has the band herself) told me. She was like you might think that first 85 pounds are hard but thats only because you havent tried to lose those last 5 pounds yet :scared2: best of luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
