Please help. I'm dying here

Recommended Posts

I don't mean to sound overly dramatic, but seriosly I feel like I'm dying! It's been a week tomorrow since I've been banded and I can only keep down popsicles, Jello and Water. Any Protein I try to get in makes me heave gas and clear bubbly Fluid within the hour. It hurts so bad and I'm miserable!! Any suggestions???

At about day ten is when I moved to the mushies stage...refried Beans, apple sauce etc....As soon as I started eating mushies I felt 100% better. If your not taking anti nausea meds I suggest you do so. My doc gave me the patch. Worked like a charm. Remember your body is trying to get used to having the band on..foreign object in the body. Things will improve once you start eating real food again...hang in there.

Have you called your surgeon's office? If not, do so NOW! I went through the same thing. turns out they gave me a partial fill when they put the band in. Between the swelling and partial fill, I couldn't get anything but liquid down. They removed the saline and I felt sooooo much better.

Absolutely call your doc! I had to much saline in my band postop and they had to remove it. I spent 6 miserable days but now am feeling MUCH better. Call now.

Thanks, I did call my doc and they said this should not be happening especially since I didn't have the gastric. They want me to come in first thing Friday.

I was banded on June 2nd. I went all the way to July 15th suffering not being able to keep much of anything down. It would take me 45min to 1 Hour to eat 4oz of food and I was chewing so much I was grinding my teeth. Good thing is that I was never hungry (positive side to everything..LOL) Finallly I went in for my first checkup and told the Doc he said No you should have called me earlier. They removed all the saline and now I can eat some but am still never hungry..Take it from me the fact that you are catching this so early is awesome.. Good Luck .

YAY! I found how to get back to this thread! Amazing how a little looking around you can figure out how to work this site! LOL I wanted to thank all of you for your words of encouragement. I'm currently back in hospital and have been since Wed. I was severely dehydrated and have a kidney infection. Monday my doc wants to do an EGD to see what's up with my stomach. Hoping and praying that he goes in, finds something simple, fixes it and I'm home by Tuesday! Wish me luck.....I miss being at home with my 4 kids!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
