Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor So LOST and in NEED of HELP!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I probably should have done a while back... but I keep thinking I am going to be able to find myself back but I just cant do it.

I was banded March 14,2008 at 235lbs. I has lost 55lbs! The I got into a plateau... and then I got complications and they had to remove all the Fluid from my band... I was able to eat the way I used to... and I went crazy... I gained 25lbs back . Finally about 2 months ago I got a fill... The first two weeks were great! I lost 6lbs... but then I don't know...

I have lost all focous... I know in my head what to eat but somehow I end up eating a lot of "easy" foods... I'm not excercising...and to be honest I am really frustrated with my self...

Before losing the weight and taking care of me was the focus... then I started a relationship and things changed...

I don't want to blame himbut it is hard to keep up with him.. when he eats so much fast food and eats so fast...

I don't want to make excuses anymore I REALLY want to get back on track...

PLEASE someone help me...

I live in Richardson, TX and I am open to group meetings, or whatever it takes... I need some support I cannot doit by myself anymore...:Dancing_wub:

Giselle, there are lots of things you can do to help keep yourself focused. #1, and many, many of us swear by this, TRACK EVERY BITE. There are several online choices you can use or you can just buy a little notebook and write it all down. If you are completely honest with yourself, you will see that there are times of day and events, and even places where you get off track more than others. Then you can use the information to hold yourself more accountable.

#2 Don't blame "him" BUT it never hurts to say, when he wants fast food, that you just can't eat "there". He may not even realize what you should and shouldn't be eating. Ask for an alternative. If you have no choice, keep a bottle of low fat viniagrette dressing in your purse (no lie, I have a girlfriend who carries her bottle of ranch dressing everywhere she goes because she only likes ranch and she only likes one brand) and order a salad with grilled chicken on it, tell them to hold the cheese and eat that. It's not as easy as a "#2 with a diet coke" but it's not that hard.

#3 Find a support group. Ask your doctor's office if they have one. If not, I believe the surgical group True Results has an office in Richardson and I know they have a monthly support group (I go to True Results in Atlanta).

#4 Exercise. No, it's not easy to consistently have exercise in your day. I get up an hour earlier than it takes to get up and go to work and I walk 4 miles (yes, in the dark) in my subdivision and the one that adjoins my subdivision. Oh, I would so much rather be in my bed that last hour but it wasn't working for me to consistently get exercise any other way. I'm working up to using intervals where I can run for a minute or two a few times along the way.

#5 DON'T discount this: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. Just because you've been off the wagon, so to speak doesn't mean you can't get back on track. Don't look at it week by week, or even day by day. This morning's exercise. A meal by the book. Drinking at least 64 oz of Water. Small pieces of a successful day.....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
