Okay, so I am a very impatient person. I am leaving for a Nutritionist appointment at my surgeon's in about 20 minutes. But just couldn't wait and I decided to call Anthem BCBS (of Maine). And the lady I spoke with said I AM APPROVED!!!!! She went on to say my "admit date" is 09/14/09! So, that may be my surgery date --- am going to wait and confirm that with the surgeon's office today. I am on CLOUD 9 right now!

Well, I have gained 5lbs since my last nutritionist appt:sad: But I knew I hadn't done so good this last month. The nutritionist told me if as surgery approaches, if I cannot maintain a 5 % loss, then I will have to do a pre-op liquid diet. So, I have to try to stay on track these next few weeks!

BUT, I found out my surgery date is going to be AUGUST 11 vs. the Sept. 14 date the insurance company told me. YAY!!!

I noticed that your under the BMI guidelines. Did you have any other risk factors. I don't mean to be too nosey but I'm meeting with the doctor tomorrow to see if I will qualify and I'm so scared I won't meet the guidelines. I am sick and tired of not having control of my weight. I've been fat since I was 10!

:thumbup:Congrats!! I would start trying to cut back now. Not sure about your nutritionist, but I had to see my twice, b/c she told my surgeon, she did not think I was serious about changing my eating habits. So, try not gain anymore weight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
