I am so NERVOUS! I have never had any type surgery whats so ever! NONE! I have to be at surgerical center by noon!

SO today i need to get ready and buy the stuff I need for the week.

What do you suggest I should get that worked for you all? Brand..etc? I know its a full liquid diet. Clear liqujid.. They say apple and grape juice.. thing is I don't like that! broth.. hmmm like chicken Soup broth or the plain broth? can i get the Tomato vegggie broth? I'm so nervous...

OHHH Multivitamin & Calcium supplements? I"ve never bought any before.. what brand would work best for being banded... I'd be nervous to take anything with just being newly banded.

Your help is greated appreciated!

Hey, I was banded two days ago.

Here's what I've had in the food & beverage department: low sugar apple juce, low sugar cranberry, popsicles (I thought they were sugar free, I was WRONG), sugar-free popsicles, diet iced tea, miso Soup (love it!! buy some!!), crystal lite. Haven't had any problems with nausea, etc.

For the multivitamin, my doctor mentioned Centrum, centrum chewables, or even the flintstones chewable vitamins.< /p>

For Calcium, I think he may have mentioned viactive, but I'll have to check on that (I'll be giving him a call on monday).

PS:

Don't worry, the surgery isn't bad. I had my gallbladder removed, and its not nearly as bad as that. I'm not going to lie, you WILL want someone around to give you a hand for a little while (we'll see, its only been two days). The spot where the port is feels awful, and sleeping is a chore (my bed is low to the ground, and I'm a side sleeper).

I've heard many people here say they preferred regular Soup, i.e. campbell's or progresso, but strained.. better and familiar flavor. I thought that was a good idea. :wink2:

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
