Sudden Restriction

Recommended Posts

OK... let me give you a little background here. I had my last and only fill on June 14, 2005 and had some good restiction when I had it done. A week later I apparently got pregnant (my 2nd by the way while on the pill) I could then eat almost anything in sight (good ole hormones) I miscarried on August 19th (I know I know sad but it wasnt my first I am dealing with it.. it's hard but I am fine) after that my doctor said I wouldn't get a period at the normal 28 days it may be more like 58 seems the average after a miscarriage. Anyway I haven't had enough restriction since this has all been happening so I scheduled another fill for next Thursday the 29th... now all of the sudden I have restriction again.

I dont know if I should cancel my fill or just wait it out and see if it is because my hormones are getting back to normal. Another thing I was thinkning is I have a cold and slight sore throat has anyone had more restricion when they aren't feeling well????

Thanks for any help you guys/gals can give me

Restriction is a funny thing. I have only one fill and I'm figuring out that the restriction feeling isn't a constant thing. This month I had my period, I had no restriction, I thought I needed another fill. Now Aunt Flo is gone and suddenly I PB'd on cottage cheese yesterday. All kinds of restriction. It's weird. I'd say if you can wait out the hormonal craze (I'm VERY sorry for your loss by the way) and then you still feel too open then get a fill. You could get a fill now but you may end up TOO tight. It's hard to say. This band is a weird and interesting thing.

Hey Alexra! Wow, sounds like you've been through the wringer this summer. :D I hope fall finds you and your family healthy and well.

It sounds to me like you're having pre-fill tightening syndrome  I just made that up, but I know that every time I schedule a fill I immediately start feeling new restriction, and consider cancelling the appointment. So don't worry, keep the appointment, and wait and see how you're feeling closer to the date.

I'm giggling here,

it seems that everytime I think I have no restriction, I go and schedule a fill and the minute I hang up the phone I have restriction,,,I'm so glad I'm not alone or crazy

I don't know the answers to your questions, but I do know that everyday I'm like man I need another fill! And then the next morning comes when I can barely eat a thing and then I'm like ooohhh no I don't need a fill or I wouldn't be able to eat anything. It seems I am tight in the mornings - open through the day - and tight before I go to bed. It's really fickle and I'm doing my best to figure it out although I do think a little fill would help me more, but then I'm worried it could be too tight again. I'm just waiting it out to see what I should do.

Sudden increased restriction was my first sign of slippage. I'm not saying your band has slipped, but it's something you might want to rule out if it is feeling very different from the way it has felt for the last few months. If your appointment is for a fluoro fill it would be good to keep the appointment just for the band placement check at the very least.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
