I just uploaded a few photos from a wedding I attended over the weekend. I know I have lost weight since my surgery last Sept but not really noticed. After uploading I was looking at my picture the day before my surgery. I see how unhappy I looked and my size. Now I see a confident woman who looks pretty good. I am not trying to be cocky so please don't take it that way. I have lost almost 50lbs and still have a ways to go. I suddenly see the changes by uploading a few photos. Everyone should have photos every couple of weeks/months. What a difference 10months can make. Wow.

Maranda, Congratulations both on the weight loss and on giving yourself the opportunity to recognize your accomplishment. Sometimes we, myself included, are way too hard on ourselves. You are doing fantastic. Tracy

Not at all. My next wedding to attend will be my daughters next April, 283 days to be exact . I expect I'll be in a few photos. My last wedding was last summer, and I was at my heaviest. I am looking forward to it.

The wonderful thing about this site is that you can be proud of yourself and everyone understands/gets it. It is so great to look at yourself and see the changes. Congratulations!!!! You work hard and see the results and that is something to be proud of and everybody here understands how great that is. Glad you shared it with us!

I guess one of the reasons I posted this was I see so many post about people being disappointed with their weight loss number. How about being joyful for the courage it took to get the surgery. The optimism to know your future is brighter. And to enjoy the ride. I have had my moments of "why is the scale not moving" but you know what. When I see the pictures.. the proof is in the pudding. Its not a number. Its how you feel. I had this surgery to give myself a healthier me. I only hope others who are discouraged know that there are hills to climb but keep climbing. Im climbing too, but man the view along the way is pretty awesome too!

I think it's an awesome accomplishment! I've noticed that sometimes, when you are a heavier person, it takes a while and more pounds than the average person, for people to notice your weight loss. I can so relate to your statement of seeing yourself look unhappy. I'm looking forward to when I like having my picture taken again!

Cathy S I think you are right on the money about how the heavier you are the longer the it takes for a change to appear or be noticed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
