I am just getting to my sweet spot - I have a lot of Fluid in band but feeling good now.

I am definitely eating less but was wondering which foods fill you up and keep you fuller longer. I am still experimenting and trying to figure out what works best for me but would welcome suggestions.

Thank you!

Solid Protein and high Fiber veggies.

Avoid soft, mushie or liquid foods that will go right through your band. As we get more and more restriction we can be drawn to the softer stuff because it is easier to get down. But the solid foods, while they take more work and time to get down, will stick with you much longer.

Go for lean chicken, meaty fish and tender beef with colorful fresh veggies which have more Fiber and Vitamins.

I'm really fond of fish (both Salmon and Orange Roughy). Does your program have a nutritionist? The only reason I ask is because they might be able to give you some tips. In contrast with Jodi, my program doesn't really encourage fibrous vegetables (although, this is not to say that they should be avoided, do what your progam suggests, if they have feelings about them) and says that they will be hard to digest and might not be easily tollerated. If we're going to eat vegatables, they recomment green Beans, carrots, mushrooms, beets, broccoli and cauliflower (tips only), canned/cooked, peeled tomatoes. Also, they want us to avoid raw vegatables for the first 6 months post-op.

I hope that helps!

Lauren,

You are confusing "Fibrous" pertaining to consistency with "High Fiber" pertaining to nutrition value.

Fibrous veggies would be foods that are stringy and hard to chew well and digest (ie celery, broccoli stems, asparagus, brussel sprouts etc.). Of course you should avoid foods like this as they can be hard to chew well enough to pass through the band comfortably.

I was referring to high Fiber (as in nutrient content) like Beans, tomatos, zucchini, peppers, etc. High fiber foods are necessary for good digestion and fiber can actually slow down the digestive process so that you stay full longer. Fiber is necessary for good health and will help us avoid Constipation. We can't be healthy on meat alone.

For me, my band does not work the way it is supposed to without the fibre and bulk of wholegrain foods.

tuna and salad vegies for lunch means I'm starving an hour or two later. Tuna, salad vegies and wholegrain bread for lunch and I'm right until dinner. eggs for Breakfast dont fill me unless they come on a piece of wholegrain toast. shakes go right through.

Entirely carb meals wont last me either, they fill quickly due to bulk, but the energy rush disappears. But temper it with Protein to slow that blood sugar reaction and give the meal some substance and the combination of Protein, vegies or fruit and a carb is what works for me.

Tuba or salmon patties. I buy them Pre made in a pouch like regular tuna. High Protein and low cal. That plus some salad or veggies keeps mr full about 5 hrs. And I have gone back to homemade protein smoothies in the morning. Fresh fruit. Ice. Greek yogurt. Lots of person and my fiber too since I add benefiber powder. I I get hungry and need a snack a handful of almonds or a 90cal fiber One Bar tides me over.

Solid Protein like chicken breast, meatballs, turkey or even eggs..etc that is always the first thing I eat at every meal. Also oatmeal fills me up really good :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
