anyone experience this?.........

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Monday 9/19/05. I expected the pain and bloated feeling but I keep feeling a pain in my stomach that radiates up to my throat which I was not ready for. It only last a few seconds but it's a little scary. I called my doc and I was told it's spasms - stomach and esophagus - which should go away when the swelling subsides. Anyone else ever experience this?

My dr said that it was left over gas that they leave in your body. I felt that way for about 2 weeks, the more I moved the better I felt it helped the gas move.

Thanks for all the good support and advice on here. Last night wasn't any fun. I was up and down all night and I was seriously hungry. I think I did wrong, I ate some egg drop Soup but I think that was the wrong decision...or was it? I was stuck on pain-killers today, but I want to try to start weaning tomorrow. I feel really bloated and scared to eat/drink. Anyone out there try the "Stoney Mills Farms" vanilla yogurt smoothies? I just saw that they were loaded with sugar (41 grams), do they have it in a low suguar vers?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
