I can't eat!!!

Recommended Posts

I obvivously need to go to the doctor... but in the meantime I just wanted to hear from all of you!

I have 3.25cc's in a 10cc band and get stuck on EVERYTHING!! Real quick on everything I've gone through so far... I had surgery and came out with 4cc's in my band. That first week I couldn't even drink water! So they removed all Fluid and then have been slowly working their way up! I got up to 3.75cc and thought I was going to die! Everything I ate, I threw up. So I went to the doctors they took pictures of my band to make sure everything looked right... and it did. She removed fluid and sent me on my way. I was ok for like 2 weeks and then BOOM... I can't eat anymore.

It is really frustrating and not healthy. I swear some people think I have an eating disorder bc A.) I never eat and B.) I throw up 5 times out of 10.

Has anyone else experienced this much discomfort when eating?? It is funny... I use to LOVE eating (ha! part of the reason why I had to get Lap-Band) and now it is a task and I really dread it. I cannot enjoy anything. I am miserable... except for when I get to go shopping and buy a smaller size!

Hmmm.... if only I could shop instead of eat. haha only kidding.

I thought my band was too tight, but I have this!!:tongue_smilie: I had an Upper GI because my band seemed TOO tight 4 times. Hopefully, your band is just to tight...

Symptoms of Achalasia:eek:

The symptoms of achalasia most often occur during and after a meal. All patients experience the sensation of solids, and usually liquids, hanging up and passing slowly into the stomach. This may occur several times a week or at every meal.

Effortless regurgitation of bland, undigested food or whitish foam (saliva) is common and may be associated with coughing and choking at night. Some patients experience chest pain, and heartburn is common. This heartburn is not related to acid reflux into the esophagus, but rather due to retained acidic food or the fermentation of food in the esophagus. Approximately 50% of patients will lose weight.

Tests for Achalasia

The diagnosis of achalasia is suspected by barium x-rays and confirmed by esophageal manometry. Barium studies of the esophagram (esophagram) show a distinctive narrowing of the lower esophageal valve, esophageal dilation with retained barium in the upright position, poor esophageal emptying, and to-and-fro movement due to the loss of orderly peristalsis (coordinated wave-like muscle contractions).

That sounds scary... I'll mention it to my doctor. Thanks for the advice. :tongue_smilie:

It could be many reasons you are getting stuck. The easiest thing to do is to get a little more Fluid out. If you were fine for two weeks, then began to be too tight again, maybe stress or your cycle caused you to become tight. Also, it is possible that the fill you had two weeks prior "kicked in" and it was just too much.

My stomach is extremely sensitive to fills and any type of irritation. I had restriction just from having my band placed and have only had two small fills this whole year.

I would really suggest getting a small amount taken out and see how it goes. Then, when you start getting fills again, just get .5cc or 1cc put in at a time. You can't continue like you are now. You will eventually start eating slider foods, which will likely cause you to gain weight and aren't good for you.

Good Luck!

I've only had 1 fill so far 2 weeks ago and it's been hit or miss when it comes down to eating, I too have been PB'ing and or vomiting a lot with certain foods. The only 2 things that seem to stay down is Yogurt and grilled chicken salad. I was able to eat gnocci with grilled chicken last night, but felt ill after about 5 forkfulls.

I hate to say it, but maybe your stomach is just really sensitive to the band and the saline itself. Good luck with it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
