Strange feeling, Need some feedback

Recommended Posts

Hi all:

I was banded on June 30th so I am just 5 days post op. I still have some pain that I can easily attribute to the surgery. But just below my sternum feels like there is something there. Now of course, i realize that this is probably the band but the feeling is a bit weird. It sort of feels like something is pulling inside of me. If this is the band, does that feeling go away with healing? Is it the swelling?

I am not too worried but it is a feeling I did not expect. Any thoughts? By the way, in addition to the band, my surgeon found a hiatel hernia and repaired it.

Thanks

I felt the same sort of "pulling" sensation. I think it's just the stitches holding everything (port, band, skin) in place. Plus the swelling. My bet is that it'll be gone before too long. But, as always, if it persists or gets worse, call your doctor. Best of luck and congrats on your banding!

I was banded on May 27 and had the same tugging feeling. Mine did go away after a few weeks. I'm guessing it's just the swelling from surgery causing a little tugging on the spots where the band is stictched down. I'm sure yours will go away too after a few weeks. I'm just over 5 weeks out and don't have any discomfort.

Hey fellow UWSer!

I felt that after my June 4 surgery but it went away. However, it did come back after I had my first fill last week.

Huge needle but it didn't hurt a bit.

I assume what your feeling isn't under or near the big incision because that would be the port.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
