Hi Everyone!!! I just got approved!!!

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kim and I will be banded on August 17th.

I can't believe that it only took 2 days for the approval since my BMI is 37 and the only co-morbidity is that I'm pre-diabetic, slight hypertension and acid reflux. I was sure that I would have to fight the insurance company and had to do a double take when I got the call today.

If anyone has some tips for the liquid pre-op diet, please let me know.

Hi Kim,

You should have gotten Protein mix from your surgeon to mix with Water. If not, I've seen ads for powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury (I use what I got from my surgeon). You will want to drink one for Breakfast and one for lunch and then a Protein such as chicken or fish and a veggie for dinner. Just the instructions from my surgeon, I don't know what other people may have done but there is lots of info on the posts on this site so you may want to read some of them to get some other ideas. Good Luck.

What kind of tests did you have to do before the insurance paperwork was sent in? Did you have to do EKG, etc or is the preoperation just before your surgeries took place?

Hi greytz :( I did get a packet of info from the surgeon's office but I think I'll get more when I attend some type of seminar/meeting before surgery. I've been reading lots of posts on what to prepare for and also have been researching different types of Protein drinks (I'm leaning toward the nectar ones).

Thank you for your help...Kim

I can't speak for everyone else but I had to have pre-op before I could do anything which consisted of, EKG, chest X-Ray, blood work up and psych eval plus a letter from my regular doctor explaining my personal health risks factors and one from my cardio surgeon because I have a heart condition and he had to ok the surgery.

Cool, just really hang in there the first two weeks. It seems like there were a lot of people like I was wanting to give up. It is kind of hard the first couple of weeks but once you get out of liquids it is soooo much better.

I had to have a preop exam with bloodwork, a ekg, a chest x-ray, a mammogram and also a phych exam before my surgery was approved.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
