I went through Richmond Kaiser too. They go by BMI period.

My BMI was 40.96 going in. I weighed 254 and am 5'5. I always thought I was 5'6 but they told me different.

I was told NOT to lose weight before orientation and in the weight I did lose before orientation (about 6 pounds) I put back on in the three weeks I had to weight for orientation. At my BMI I couldn't take chances of being below 40 BMI. I had a couple of co mobidities but my doctor said they were minor, not a big deal.

DON'T LOSE WEIGHT BEFORE ORIENTATION!!! It won't count. You can try to give them the pre op weight lose and bring in your paperwork but I don't think it will fly.

The appointment are:

Orientation

Psych Evaluation

Surgeon appointment

Case manager appointment

Pre op classes/Nutrition class

Surgery

than montly follow up for most of us.....for six months and than I think every other month for the last six months.

Ok I see on my ticker that at 5'5" and 254 my BMI was actually 42 hight than I thought. Height makes a huge difference.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
