Is any one else on a three week post-op

Recommended Posts

My Dr. told me I have to do liquids for three weeks.which included yogurt and cream Soups.< /p>

I have notice that some of you are able to go to mushies sooner.I was just wondering if I was alone cause I may need a little support. I just want some tuna:crying:

i know how you feel to a degree. My pre surgery diet was Optifast 3 times a day,2 litres of Water and some greens for Fiber. This was for 6 weeks and 4 days prior to surgery, it was suppose to be 8 weeks. Whether this makes a difference for after surgery I cannot tell you but I was able to have anything that was a smooth consistency for the first 14 days and then I could have scrambled or soft poached eggs for instance. I was also able to introduce mashed veggies.I think by reading what others have said that all doctors have a different method and I would ring my doctor just to ask if there are some exceptions.

Hang in there! All docs seem to have different post op diets; I've read of some where the patient is on liquids for 4 weeks (or more) and NO cream type soups!

It is HARD...no kidding, but stick with it. Your doc knows what works best for his/her patients, and you are almost through it now. You'll make it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
