Is eating Cereal a bad thing?

Recommended Posts

Total has a Total Protein Cereal that is pretty good and has 10 grams of protein in it. I eat it with skim milk which also has 10 grams of protein and no fat and I add some fruit. I would be a huge liar if I said it was my favorite thing to eat, but its ok for fast on the run Breakfast (or dinner).

For some reason I can eat a lot of cereal. As long as I chew and not swollow any air it is a slider food. Talking like a cup plus milk and that is a bad thing because when I just want to eat it is an easy over eat for me so I try not to have it in the house.

I eat cereal on occasion. I love a bowl of cereal. My issue is with proper restriction it can be somewhat difficult eating with a liquid as it causes me to gurgle.

I eat cereal almost every morning. I usually have mini-wheats with sliced bananas and soy milk, but do have sugar cereals on occasion.

I too believe that everything in moderation is good, and I definiely don't see carbs as bad, again, in moderation.

I also really like the FiberOne cereals, they are loaded with lots of Fiber and other nutrients, although they do have more sugar than I'd like. Oh well, to get my fiber, sometimes I have to have a bit more sugar than I'd prefer, no biggie!

Just a quick question. I would like to know if eating Cereal is ok or not. In a very small bowl of course. Whole grain like LIFE Cereal.

I'm three months out from surgery.

Thanks for all your input.

For the last 3 weeks I have been eating cereal everyday. I eat the Special K with extra Protein. It has 11 grams of protein in 3/4 cup, that's pretty awesome! It totally keeps me full for about 4-5 hours, just 3/4 of a cup with some skim milk. Now, it really doesn't have much flavor but if you add some splenda or fresh fruit it touches the taste up. It's for sure worth it for the protein!!

If you find a 100% whole grain, no or low sugar cereal, it should be actually good for you. Complex Carbs are OK in moderation.

I bought a cereal called Uncle Sam. Added a small 1/2 tsp of splenda, it satisfied my craving for grains. Yum.

the Kashi brand of ceral makes a high Protein variety that is actually quite good. It is whole grain and the protein in it helps curb the appetite until lunch time. It's a very healthy choice if you like cereal, and quite filling. In the winter I also eat oatmeal and cream of wheat. I add unflavored Protein Powder and it lasts me well into the afternoon. Use skim milk to watch your fat, and you're good to go!!! I try to limit cereal to twice a week. On other days I eat yogurt, cottage cheese and soft scrambled eggs.< /p>

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
