Treadmill....2 days post op

Recommended Posts

I'm so proud. I couldn't get myself to do it yesterday, but I did it today. Just wanted to share because at my pre-op appointment they said to get on the treadmill and walk the day after surgery..... She said it would help with the gas pains. I'm sick of the gas pains and the medicine is not helping. The nurse said to start at 5 minutes and increase in 5 minute intervals. I'm also kinda upset because I gained a pound yesterday. So, I'm going to do the treadmill for 10 minutes before going to bed. I'll let you all know if it helps with the gas pain.

What actually did help with my pain the day of the surgery and yesterday was liquid Advil in combination with the Lortab. I read somewhere that Advil may help more than the narcotic pain killers. So, I tried it and it worked :)!! But, I've run out and I don't want to drive yet.....

By the way, I set the treadmill very slow, 1MPH and no incline.....

Good job. Walking really helped me with gas pains. I started slowly and just worked myself up to four miles!!!! It really helps with weightloss. I am not saying that I love it- but I just make myself do it. I do feel good after I do it but have to fight myself from talking myself out of it prior to exercising. Keep it up.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
