What is your best NSV so far?

Recommended Posts

I have a few good ones, but I think the best one was being able to go shopping -- in normal sizes -- and feeling great about how I looked.

It was the first time in many years that I was able to go shopping without being totally disgusted with myself about how I looked and how much weight I had let myself put on.

I had another one this morning. . . my size 16 banana Republic pants (the ones that I just dreamed of getting into when I first got banded) are getting too big!! WOO-HOO! :wink2:

I can't possibly name just one.....there are so many!

These are my most recent NSVs:

Getting rid of all clothes with a "W" or "X" behind the size.

Sitting comfortably in a booth that I had to squeeze behind last fall.

Watching my face lose the bloat and become familiar again.

Racing up my front stairs without even getting winded.

Throwing out my size 12 granny panties that had gotten baggy.

I'm only half-way through my journey, but I feel amazing and genuinely proud of myself. I wonder what exciting NSVs losing the next 50 pounds will bring........:wink2:

By the way, Catherine, I read your blog regularly and really enjoy your insight. I'm in awe of your boot camp endurance!

Hi:

I think there are two favorites for me.

The first one was when my Daughter told me that she was relieved that she didn't have to worry about my weight problem anymore. The second one was looking at my flat tummy for the first time after my Tummy Tuck.< /p>

I love my band and my new flat tummy!

These are so great!! Also, thanks, Mim! It's so nice to get positive feedback on my blog. :wink2: And, it's so interesting to see how close our stats are -- our band dates are almost the same, and so are our start & current weights!

Yes, I noticed that too Catherine. However........you've got about 7" on me......I'm just 5'1".......which means I'm still in a size 18 at this weight! But, it is interesting that we're losing at about the same rate. I've been frustrated with the slow loss, but hitting that 50 pound mark was a real milestone!

Here is a funny one...

Yesterday, I had a sales rep come by the office to see me. This sales rep knows about my WLS but hasn’t seen me since before my surgery. So, I go out to greet him in the lobby (now mind you the receptionist is there as well as another co-worker) and guess what happened (LOL,:w00t: ROFL) as I’m reaching out to shake hands MY PANTS FELL OFF:w00t::blushing::w00t:. I mean all the way to my ankles:blushing:. It happened soooooo, fast I didn’t know what happened at first. Well the sales rep says “Well I can see you’ve really lost some weight”. Man, we all started laughing. I don’t think I’ll live this down any time soon.

I dont know how much of a victory it is but my clothes are "falling off" and its damn funny.

Wow... so many and I'm only 4 months out... I think the biggest has been fitting into a clothes size that I haven't fit into for almost 8 years!

Also, my daughter telling me how skinny I am now (she's 5) and my husband noticing the loss when he hugs me. Lots to enjoy!!!

I had some good ones this morning. I went to my primary care physician for the first time since surgery and he said I looked so different to him it was like having a brand new patient! My fasting blood sugar was 100 so my diabetes is now officially controlled by diet and exercise. I can't wait for the rest of my blood work to come back.

MY PANTS FELL OFF:w00t::wink::sneaky:. I mean all the way to my ankles:blushing:.

OMG -- that is hysterical!!! Well, I guess it's time for some new pants! That really is the funniest NSV I've heard! :crying:

Hmmmm. Where to begin!

  1. My wedding rings are virtually falling off after once strangling my finger.
  2. I can sit in a chair and see the chair on both sides rather than my big ole butt hanging over the sides!
  3. I can see my collar bone again!
  4. My cheeks look awesome!
  5. I had to buy all new shoes because mine were all too big.
  6. HAD to buy new clothes even though I am not at goal because my skirt FELL OFF at church last week!
  7. I now weigh 30 lbs less than my hubby rather than 30 lbs more!
  8. I am shopping in the skinny girl side of the store again!
  9. I have gone from a 2X to a medium in most everything,
  10. My bra size is down to a 36D rather than a 42DD.
  11. I have a waistline!
  12. I can wear belts and colors again!
  13. I, too, can sit in a booth rather than squish into one.
  14. I have tons more energy! I can hop and run and climb and not die!
  15. I get killer compliments from just about everyone who sees me, young and old!
  16. Men hold the door open for me again rather than dropping it in my face.
  17. I wear a B in panty hose again instead of a Q.

Oh my gosh, my brain is tired! There is so much more!

I love NSVs, mine and everyone else's! It is sooooo neat to read them all! I get so excited!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
