How long did you take off from work? I have a desk job, so no issures with lifting. My biggest fear is of getting sick at work. My office is glass enclosed and kinda open to the world! I'm also nervous about getting enough Protein and eating stuff that won't make me sick. I'm a gulper when it comes to drinking Water, better start practicing sipping.

I had surgery on a Friday morning and was back to work Monday morning. A little sore, but if you can get up and walk around every hour or so it helps. Didn't have any issues other than terrible gas pains in my shoulders and upper chest for a couple of weeks but incision-wise, very little soreness.

Best of luck and success!:)

I also have a desk job. I went back to work in 5 days. I had no problems. Just keep your liquids handy and get up and walk around every 30 minutes. Best of luck to you!!!

I had my surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work on Monday... I felt great on Friday well enough to go back to work but I am glad I took the few extra days before returning.

I had surgery 6/08. I arranged to take a week off. Now I'm working on week 2 off.

I don't have pain from the surgery site. When the put in the band and port, the fill it (prime it) with saline to make sure there aren't any leaks. Well, my doc left some saline in. So when the swelling hit a certain point and with the 'partial fill' it completely closed up the stoma and I had a horrible night. They pulled out the saline the next day. However, that set my healing back a bit.

If I were you I'd plan for 7-10 days off. But, if you feel like going back to work in 3 days, then go. But if you need more time you have it. As my hubs says, hope for the best, plan for the worst.

I don't see my surgeon again until the 25th. Where I work, I need something from my doctor saying that I am 'fit for full duty' before I can go back to work. I am hoping my PCM will give me something tomorrow.

I had my surgery May 28th (thurs) and went to work for 1 day the following week and it wiped me out. I have an office job too. I think you should take at least 4-5 days off if you can just to be careful.

I have my Protein stuff in my desk drawers and a shake cup as well. Every monday I buy 1 gallon of milk and Im good to go.

Good luck!!:)

I had surgery on a Monday and returned to work the following monday. I could have gone back sooner, but wasn't sure what to expect. I have small children, so perhaps I would have had it easier at work!

I never once took pain meds once leaving the hospital. This surgery was quite easy to recover from.

I had surgery on a Thursday I went back to work on Tuesday. I was supposed to go back on Monday but I wanted another day off. I was just a little sore, nothing unbearable. I too have a desk job so I definatley think that helped going back sooner.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
