Scales....... what's yours?

Recommended Posts

So I have decided I need a new scale. I went out and bought a HomeMedics digital scale today and got on it. I was SHOCKED! It read the same as the scale I've been using---the one that I swear up and down is about 10lbs off.

At work we use a digital scale and it consistently weighs me 10lbs heavier than I do at home. I am SO confused! I dont know which scale to believe. I havent been to weigh in at the surgeon's office in over 4 weeks so that scale is out. I guess I will try to get in there this week just to see but its driving me crazy trying to figure how much I actually weigh

:blushing:

Take something that has a known weight - like a 5 pound bag of sugar or something. Put it on your new scale. If it reads correctly, it is right.

I bought two digital scales and get 2 different weights! (weight watchers and biggest loser) Some times I can get on and off and get a new weight! It drives me nuts! I relay on the old fashion one at the gym which consistently shows a weight loss. Physiologically though since I weigh there later in the day it shows a higher number. I would love to get an accurate number first thing in the morning. Oh and I tried weighing my hand weight and sometimes it is accurate and sometimes it isn't. If anyone has a good scale I would be interested too.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
