First Fill only hours away..........

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I go in to get my first fill in about 2 hours from now. I'm really nervous about how it will go but am very excited to really get with the program. I have not had any restriction since surgery and have been eating way too much food. I need that restriction to hold me back! That's all -- just needed to release some of the anxieity I'm feeling. Thanks for listening

Hi Duckie,

I had my first fill last Wednesday, and I was a nervous wreck! Mine was simple, quick, and painless. I hope yours goes just as well! :)

Julie....I was just like you before my first fill! I talk when I get nervous and I probably drove the people in the waiting room crazy that day! It was, thank goodness, one of those things that the dread is way worse than the actual event. It was over and done with in nothing flat. I wasn't even sore but I did have a bruise the size of Rhode Island the next day! I have had another fill since then and it went just as smoothly as the first. Hopefully your's will also. Good luck and know that you are feeling exactly what other people have felt and we're all here to tell you it won't be so bad!

Julie--I am in the same boat. I had surgery on August 25th but am terrified of getting my first fill. Luckily I do have some restriction but I can still eat more than I think I should. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck!

Hey! How did the fill go? Okay, now that it's over it can be said my first fill was a *terrible* experience, BUT (and this is important) the restriction I have from the fill is SO SO SO worth it!!!!!!

Hope all went well. Check back in and tell us!!!!

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. It all went fine yesterday! I walked in and had lost 4 more pounds - yes! Dr. Clinch put in some Litacaine (sp) and then injected 3 cc's of saline (mine is the large 10cc band), then had me drink some Water to make sure that everything was okay. Done. Just a simple 5 minute process. Wow!! Do I feel good now. I still don't feel like I have a whole lot of restriction, but Dr. said to give it a couple of weeks and if there doesn't seem to be any more restriction to come back in for another fill. From the sounds of it, I'd rather be under than over filled.

Well I guess that's it for now. Talk to you all again soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
