I too suffered from PCOS, but it was later in my 20's. I had sleep apnea and edema.

My close friend and I were banded two weeks apart last July. She also had PCOS and took fertility drugs to conceive her first two pregnancies. 6 months after banding, she had lost close to 50 lbs, began ovulating without realizing it, became pregnant and is due in early September. Her twins will turn two years old 4 months after this one is born! :cursing:

I am sorry those around you aren't as supportive as you need them to be. You are doing this for you and your health. You will find a lot of support on here whenever you need it. Good luck and check back in often!

hi sammy, my name is melissa im 31yrs old live and live victoria. I tried every diet there was and didn't lose anything and after 2 chn the weight piled on depressed hated shopping etc couldn't even run around with the kids. I made the decision to have lapband and after 18 months on the waiting list it finally happened i got banded on the 1/6/09 and since lost 7kg in 12 days already more cause your on the shakes and don't feel like eating it was the best decision i have ever made. yes there are risks but so does every operation and yes you are in pain after but if you keep up with the pain relief its all good. dont feel like your alone if you want to talk or have Q's email me on mel_sarahjack@hotmail.com All the best with your surgury. melissa

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
