When is it enough restriction?

K so I haven't been losing the most, but I also haven't been eating the best, though the amount seems a little much to me. How much are you guys able to eat? I'm able to eat a full meal in about 10 minutes and it's probably a 1/2 cup full. I get a little hungry after an hour.

I would ask my doctor but I'm afraid he'll be too aggressive...as he puts in 2 to 3 cc's at a time. I'm at 7cc in an 10cc VG band. I think I'm pretty close but...I'd like some advice on this...

I was in for a fill Yesterday and my Doc told me that he would prefer it if I ate 5 to 6 meals a day at 1/2 a cup at a time rather than 3 one cup meals.

I am on the full liquids today because of the fill so I do not know how much I can eat yet....I was doing one cup meals 3 times a day....

Sign in my docs office says goal is to be able to eat any food, small amt, stay full up to 6 hours.

I've found if I eat solid food like a steak I stay full FOREVER. If I eat something like a bean burrito I'm hungry in an hour.

See how long you stay full just eating solid Proteins and some veggies...if you still get hungry soon, you need another fill.

I would think because you have 7cc's now he should only add about .5cc's because if he adds a full cc you wont be able to keep any food down at all.. but if you try it then that should start you back at loosing weight. I Will be honest with you. I should be about 9cc's and the last time i got a fill was in march or either early april lol.. but he only put 1/2cc and i could only eat 1/4 cup of food poss. 2x's a day if that much i wasent hungry at all but thats not a good thing... i have loosened up since and feel great but if he fills you and you are too full let him know....

well I'm kind of hoping that if he gives me 1/2 cc that I can only eat 1/4 cup a food twice a day...at least right away....as it seems that I have really awesome restriction right away and then it just sort goes down hill from there lol...

i just got my second fill of 1 cc 2 days ago. It was my second fill in 5 months, because the weight has been coming off, by eating good and excercising. Since my fill, i can barley keep liquids down and solids and mushies arent even a thought. Am i too tight? Or should i just wait a few more days and tough it out? Im thinking i may be swollen b/c i havent been filled in so long. Any advice is gladly accepted. I just dont want to go for an unfill b/c i want to go foward on my road to loosing this weight

I had my first fill 5/21, and it was absolutely perfect for the first week -- I got full quickly and stayed full for hours. Since then, although I'm definitely more restricted than I was without it, I know I'm not at my "sweet spot" yet. I go back in another week or so, and I guess we'll see!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
