Another Milestone Reached

Recommended Posts

Well, back in 2003 I had a medical condition that shocked me into losing weight. At 288 lbs I started using my Weight Watchers tools and lost a whopping 94 lbs. It took me nearly 2 years and a lot of hard work, but I did it. The lowest that I got was 194 lbs. Well, eventually I hit a plateau, and started gaining a little back, and then tragedy hit my family when my Mom died. Losing weight was no longer a priority. But before I had even started losing, I vowed I would never be that heavy again. Then, when I had gained weight and was again over 250, I decided to get WLS and did my research. On 6/18/08 I had my surgery.

My goal was to get to that low weight of 194 before my one-year anniversary of my pre-surgery diet and I DID IT!!!!!!

So now that I have lost all the weight that I had gained I am ready to break through that mental barrier that I had. I see no slowing down this time. No plateau looming in the future. Full steam ahead. Next goal? 180 by my birthday in September.

So, all of you in this process, remember to set some goals. Big goals and little ones. By achieving those little goals along the way, you will reach those big goals out there. Then, that ultimate goal is within reach before you know it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
