Ok so i hit 60lbs lost last Friday !! I was banded on 3/25/09..This was such a big accomplishment to me. For once in my life i really feel like with the band i can really reach my weightloss goal! I had my first fill on 5/14 and felt good restriction that day and the day after, but the 3rd day i was back to feeling no restriction and hungry:w00t:..Is this normal? Is the restriction feeling supposed to go away that fast? Please Help

Wow 60 lbs down that is so awesome!!!! Usually after I get a fill I feel it for about 2 weeks. Everyone's different when it comes to feeling fills and you also have to take this into consideration: your band may be tighter or looser depending upon what time of the month it is.

Only 2 months and you've lost 60 lbs. already? Hooray! I was banded on 9/9/08 and have only lost 53 lbs. so far. You are doing great! I am just now, after my 3rd fill, getting good restriction. I can only eat 3 bites of a burger and I'm done. I took off 3 lbs. this week because I just got my 3rd fill last thursday. That last fill , I believe, will start me losing again now. Everyone is different. I hope all goes well for you! You LB friend, Patty

Thanks! Its funny u say that depending on the time of the month the band may be tighter or looser because there are days when i feel really hungry and can eat alot and then there are days where i take 2-4 bites of something and im done. I guess i will just have to get used to it. I cant wait for my fill on 6/8. Im hoping i feel something different

Yes it's normal! I didn't really feel restriction until my 4th, and not good restriction until my 5th. In fact I had a LITTLE taken out, and am now on fill/unfill #7 and FINALLY feeling the love. I have a 14cc band and "only" 6.5 in it; my doc is very conservative so different people feel it at different fills and fill levels, but to not feel the first few is very common, depending on the amount, the person, the doc, etc.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
