Normal? Ups and Downs?

Recommended Posts

So this kinda weirds me out...one day i will get on the scale and it will say that i have dropped a pound or two, maybe 2 or so days later i will get back on the scale and i gain them back. then maybe about a week later the same thing will happen i will lose about 2lbs and i will stay at that weight for a while and then i will lose another pound and gain it back then lose it then gain it back...and this process goes on 4 eva. This seems like it may be confusing so lets have an example.

week 1: (Day one: 210)(day3: 208)(day 5: 210)...then at some point stabalize at 208lbs then lose 2 and gain it back then lose it again...and eventually stabalize at that weight...then the process repeats itself!

is this normal? i know i really shouldn't even worry about this, but it bothers me a little bit!

Entirely normal.

I see sawed up and down the whole time (but never went back up to previous highs). I'd go 207, 209, 207, 208, 206, 208, 207, 206, 207, 205, 207, 206, 204, kind of thing. The low points would get lower and lower. But I never went back up by more than a pound or two.

its like you'd see a low weight and think OOH, exciting! But you knew it wouldnt stick - just yet. It would take a few almosts before you really got there.

Mentally, the hardest ones (i think in kilograms) were the decades, breaking 100kgs, 90kgs, 80kgs. It'd be gut wrenching to go back up into the next decade.

If misery loves company, I'm right there with you. I just saw the scale and I'm up a lb again from yesterday, even though I ate well and spent an hour at the gym. I never care if its higher the day after a party or something, but doing everything right and gaining is so unfair. And to top it off, I'm in the middle of a plateau right now and I haven't lost anything for about 10 days.

I, too, know this is normal, but I don't have to like it!

Cindy

The same thing happens to me ( i like Jachut's way of putting it..it makes sense) but it doesn't bother me as much because I know it's about Water fluctuations. I have a Tanita scale which shows the % Water in addition to how much I weigh. When the weight is up it's usually because I'm retaining water.

I figure if I take it one meal at a time...eat right...it WILL come off slowly...and that's ok with me.

OMG my body totally does the same thing!!!!! Last Sunday the scale said 264 Monday it was 263 Tuesday it was 265 Wednesday it was 266 Thursday it was 264 Friday it was 264 and then I went out of town for the weekend but I'm sure tomorrow morning it's going to say either 264 or 265. Ugh. It's so frustrating! Then by next weekend I'll be down to 261 or 260 and fighting again with the same lbs.

Hi guys! This is the story of my life...ups and downs (on the scale). I'm not too worried about it because I'm seeing better results in the inches department. I thought I'd lose more after my first and only fill, but found that in the month since the fill I've been able to eat just about anything without the feeling of fullness. It actually doesn't feel like I'd been filled at all. I'll discuss it with my doctor when I go back. In the meantime though, I know that by eating less and working out more, the weight will come off, slowly or not, I'm ok with it.

you are definitely not alone, i do the same thing, you go up and down by a few pounds til you finally stick to the lower number. then it starts all over i do this with every few pounds i lose. its especially irritating when you know theres no way you've eating anywhere near enough to gain. and jaqui as usual you are right, it dosent really bug me as long as i dont go up a number bracket. now that im in the 180s im gonna stay here. thats of course until i start the same game in the 170's. cant wait for that to start

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
