I hate how this makes me feel

Recommended Posts

I had surgery about a year ago and have lost about 60 pounds. I've only had 3 fills and the fills feel so weird and uncomfortable. Firstly, my port moves so I always end up being stuck a couple of times before they find how to get the needle in it. I had my most recent fill two days ago and I'm just uncomfortable. It seems to be hit or miss as to if anything is going down. I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't sleep so I took a benedryl with some milk and now I can feel the milk just sitting on top of the band. I know the pill isn't stuck but the milk is just not going down. I long to eat but have learned to hate eating, or rather fear it. Is this normal? Does anyone feel this way. I'm nearing the stage where I want to give up, unfill it and enjoy eating again.

Were you this unhappy before you fill? I am having trouble with my last fill (hit and miss on what goes down and the pain it causes), but I am opposite you. I am on a power trip. The pain makes me not hungry or want to eat. I know that is horrible, and I will start suffering soon, but I am going for a slight unfil.

You should go back and have them take out a little bit of what they put in. Once you found your sweet spot, things should get better.

Congrats on the 60. Doesn't that make you feel good?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
