I get my first fill on wednesday the 20th. I am not sure what size band I have and I am not sure if that makes a difference, but i was wondering what is the most anyone has gotten in a first fill and if anyone gets much restriction from it????

It took me five fills to get restriction but everyone is different. It was very frustrating for a while but once you have restriction it is a lot easier.

Good Luck to you.

I have a 14 cc band and got fills as follows:

1.5, then to 3.0, then to 4.5, then to 5.5, then to 6.25 (too tight for my stressful final semester in nursing school) then unfill to 6.0 and now fill to 6.5 (way better now that I'm out of school and can "think" about what I'm doing)

Everyone is different; and you don't "really" need to know what sized band I guess. Some don't care but it's in me and I want the info!

So my first/biggest fills were 1.5 and I didn't feel it at ALL until I hit 5.5 in my band. It will depend on your doc how much you get but most don't really feel much different after the 1st one.

My Dr. starts with 4 cc in a 10 cc band for the first fill--and boy I wanted it, I was eating everything in sight and wanted good restriction to get this thing going! And guess what? it was too tight. I had to get an unfill an hour later because I was sliming and had immediate heartburn. I was so destroyed when the doc took out half--so now I only had 2 cc's of restriction. But that was April 15, and I've lost 10 pounds since then! So when everyone says "it's different for everyone", they are not kidding, it really is different for everyone as to when and how much it will take for you to get good restriction.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
