Aww thanks Mimi!! Amibrooke it makes ALL the difference... An unfilled band is like a power tool you haven't plugged in yet - you'll notice such a difference!

I've lost 28, sadly over the last 2 months I have only lost 3 of that. I need a fill but my free 90 days of fills are over and I just don't have the money right now to shell out for it. I know it would help since I can eat alot, but I just can't right now :)

I know where your coming from. I was banded in Mexico and just found a fill Dr. here in birmingham, alabama that finally wants to do my fill for less than $300 and don't require me to travel. I was banded June 25, 2009 and haven't had a fill. I've also gained the little weight that I lost in the beinning. My first fill will be next thursday for $175 and $100 there on :). Stay encourage, something will work out. :thumbup:Try and see if you can do your fill for a cheaper price in your area.

I almost 6 months out as I was banded on March 18th. I have lost a total of 71lbs so far and hadnt realized how much I lost until I tried on a size L dress I got from Target. Their clothes have always been so tight to me. I always told my husband that the clothes there ran small... Well to my surprise this morning the dress fits just right. I know that sometimes we get discouraged and dont lose what we want to lose, but I want to remind everyone that even 5lbs lost is making us healthier.

Everyone keep up the good work! We can and will succeed at our weightloss goals whether its a year from now or three. Congratulations once again to everyone for making a life changing decision.

I am new to Lap Band Talk. I had my surgery March 10, 2009. To date I have lost 41lbs. I am one of the slow losers, but considering I have PCOS I feel pretty good about that loss. Next month will make 6 months so if I can lose 7 more lbs by then I will be exactly 1/2 way to goal at the 1/2 way mark. I look forward to chatting with others who had their surger yaround the same time.

Hi Sarah,

Welcome to LandBand Talk.

I'm there with you...........lost 41lbs also. Been at this plateau for about 3 months......it has been frustrating. On the brighter side, I have finally got restriction, I'm not sure if I have reached my sweet spot, but at least the scale has started to move downward. Just made it to onderland .

Cheers,

Vicky

Hello Everyone,

It's been quite a while since I have posted or have even been on this site. I have had a bit of a slump, I lost my job and was a little depressed so I lost focus. I even stopped visiting this site, I finally realize what a support it is. Thankfully, I haven't gained any weight, but I haven't been eating the right things and I haven't been exercising either. Reading all these posts have given me the motivation to get back on track.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
