I was banded on March 16th and have lost 33lbs. I wish it was more but I guess slower is better. I have had 4 fills and some times I can't keep anything down and then other times I can eat anything, still not quite sure how to use this thing. My goal is to lose 70-75lbs time will tell.

Good luck everyone!!

Bernadette

I was banded with the Realize Band June 25 and as of two days ago I have lost 10 pounds. Im still on liquids and its going okay. Im having to be creative on what liquids to have, but Im not hungry like I use to be before the band. I also haven't had a fill. I'm hoping to not gain the weight back once I start on solids. Overall, it has been worth it and Im excited about my future with the band.

Welcome to the Group Aug 09, I was banded on March 24th and have lost 42lbs since surgey. It's an exciting journey and sometime frustrating, because you sometimes wonder if you are doing the right thing, but when you see that scale go down it's all worth it. Good luck and keep in touch.

I've lost 30 lbs in 17 weeks - not as fast as I'd hoped but it is still progress so I'll take it. Fab by 50 - I feel the same way, some days I can hardly eat anything and other days I can eat a ton. Very weird. Exercising 3x a week - I'm hoping to bump up the intenstity over the next few weeks and see if I can lose another 10 lbs by August...

I was banded March 31st 2009, and I've lost exactly 20.5 lbs since then. I lost about 30 since the pre-op diet, and about 50 since last year.

I just had my 2nd fill, and now have 4.5cc, so I'm hoping to get the weight loss moving!

Always ;-)

I was banded on March 10th and have lost 31lbs since surgery. I need to break my peanut M&M habit and hopefully speed this weight loss up a little.

I was banded in March and have only lost one pound. I had some port filling issues. But I am trying to remember one pound is one pound. Lets hope it keeps going in the right direction.

Banded 3/26/09

Lost 20 lbs to date

1st fill 5/1 - 3cc

Going slower then I had hoped and I'm not scheduled for my 2nd fill till 7/10 (10 wks between fills). I've only lost 2 lbs since fill.....and that's after I called and said was there a mistake on my appt card....it was origianlly scheduled for 12 wks from my last fill!!!!!

If my scales don't start moving I'm gonna drive the office crazy begging for fills!!!!

UPDATE: down 34lbs

Had a long talk with the PA & Dr about the fill schedules and I feel much more comfortable with the way they have things set up, and as long as I'm seeing results I'm not gonna complain!!

Down 59 lbs since surgery on March 2, 2009! 69 down since Feb 1 when I scheduled the surgery! Feeling soooo much better! Half way to goal! I gave myself a very conservative goal- but I have a feeling I will pass it! Good job everyone!!! Keep up the good work!

I had my surgery 3/13/09 and I have lost 57lbs. I am very excited about my weight loss but very scared it will slow down. My surgeon tells me to only expect to loose 80-100lbs the first year. But to me that just doesnt seem right. If i have lost 57lbs in 4 months am I only expected to loose 23-43lbs over the next 8 months. Well no matter how I loose it I am just happy it is coming off. I was also wondering how many cc everyone has in their bands. I am alreay at 11cc in my 14 cc band but it seems to be workin gfor me so far.

Ah I love the band! My surgery was March 17th and I have lost 47 pounds so far :)

I started at 247 and am down to 200. Its crazy cause just in february I was 260. It was slow going but you really do need your adjustments closer to each other, it took me about 7 adjustments to hit the "sweet spot". Seriously though once your their the pounds melt off and you don't even notice, Exercise too it really does make a difference. Good luck and good job everybody!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
