Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for my consultation next Friday and I'm need some suggestions of what questions I should ask. I really don't know what to expect and would love some suggestions on things I need to cover with him.:)

Honestly, when I went for mine they actually covered all my questions before I asked them and more. Random little things like I probably won't be able to eat apple skin afterwards. As for questions you can ask maybe whether they use stiches, glue or staples to close you up? I never asked mine that because it didn't occur to me and now I'm paranoid I'm going to get staples lol. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Hi Momamia,

During my first visit with my Dr., I could not think of any questions that he didn't cover. But it's been a few weeks now and I go back on Tuesday. I sat down and thought about a typical day...and whatever questions popped into my head, I wrote down. I will ask these next week:

- I rely on Fiber for regularity. Will I still be able to take a Fiber supplement? What is suggested?

- Regarding clothing - how long do u think it will be before I can be comfortable wearing button/zipper slacks, etc?

- Considering the time of my surgery (7:30am) will I still need to spend the night?

- Since I am Catholic, can I start taking the host once I am able to eat mushy foods (like in Phase II) or do I need to wait until I can handle solids?

These are just a few that I came up with. If you think about your day-to-day routines, you will probably come up with more! Good luck!!

-mary

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
