Hey again everyone!

It's now been just over a year since I last logged in to find out some info on the lap band....and I have my op TOMORROW morning! I'm so excited/nervous/scared all at the same time. I know it's going to be the best thing for me...I just hope it works as well for me as it has for everyone else in here...

Anywayz....I'm sure I'm going to become quite the regular in here from now on - I'll actually have something to talk about! eekk...

See you post-op!

ps. did anyone REALLLY cheat with their pre-op Optifast diet?? Becuase I have!! :cool2: I feel incredibly guilty.

Hey again, well I'm home from the op...got home yesterday...I haven't felt hungry at all yet which is great so it's making it very easy to stick to the post -op diet. Went with clear fluids all yesterday and today woke up, had 50mls of sustagen and have just had about 80mls of jelly. I think the hardest thing so far is remembering to drink water!! I'm so used to having large amounts of Water at the one time rather than small sips every 10mins or so, but I'm getting there.

I was in soooo much pain last night, the pain in my right shoulder and neck was excutiating....thankfully today just my neck is sore so I'm able to move around little more...the nurses said it had soemthing to do with wind, but I'm not so sure....

Has anyone else felt so sore in other areas than their stomach after having the surgery?? And if so, how long did it take for it to settle down??

The pain in your shoulders is from gas, generally during any laproscopic procedure they fill you up with "gas" that helps to float your organs away from the area they are operating on, if you don't walk around right away and prop yourself up when sleeping it can become trapped under your shoulder blades, etc. Get up and walk around as much as you can and you'll feel much better soon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
