Only 2cc's for first fill?

Recommended Posts

Not low at all. I have the same size band you do. I only had 2cc at my first fill and ended up in the ER that night so swollen that I could not even swallow my own saliva.

Trust me, you want a conservative doctor. You don't want to be miserable right off the bat. Give it time and you will come along just fine.

Heck, some doctors would have put in even less. My first fill was 4 ccs on top of .6cc in the band, and I didn't make it to work before I had to turn around and go back and get an unfill. Be comfortable with what you got. It's no fun at all being too tight!

As my signature shows, 2.25 cc in a 10cc band, I have my 6 month follow up, not sure what will happen there. If they want to try more, I'm willing.

Moon: I think normal depends on the surgeon. Mine normally does 4ccs at the first fill, but I didn't want that much.

fatgirl (not much longer): define uncomfortable. If you are having trouble drinking fluids or swallowing, no, that isn't normal. Call you doctor. If it just feels different and tighter when eating, then yes, that is normal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
