I thought the same thing when I first got my band. At my two week post-op appointment, my surgeon made it a point to tell me that as the swelling goes down, I will feel as if I don't have a band at all! He said to stay on the diet anyway and really drink more Water to help combat the hunger. It helped some, but once I started getting fills, that helped even more!

I would say, don't worry, but follow your gut and if you are still worried, call your doctor's office. That's what they are there for!!

Hope this helps!

I don't know how you eat fish, and strawberries w/whipped cream, without chewing but good for you if you have!

You're lucky you were allowed to eat earlier; most of us aren't so blessed! ;)

I was banded on the 20th and since surgery have lost 27 lbs total in less than three weeks (incl. pre-op diet). I have to tell you that this past couple days I have had: refried Beans with sour cream, some chicken (can't eat much of it, but make it mushy in my mouth), applesauce, oatmeal, salmon - I have even had guacolmole (sp) on a chip, and was just careful I chewed it to an absolute pulp prior to swallowing it. Ya' know, I feel great - am losing weight - have not even had the first fill - I am staying at 4oz or under and it seems to fill me up....

hi, i was banded on the 20th and i feel the same as you.

i probably could sit down and eat a whole dinner, but i try to stick with cottage cheese for breaksfast (2tb) or yogurt

lunch - usually egg beater 1/2 cup with salsa or 1/2 cup cream soup/ baby chicken in it for Protein

dinner ff refried Beans 1/2 cup sprinkled with low fat cheese - ff sour cream and salsa (love this), then i brought Protein bullets that are 26 grams of protein have one of those a day. i do eat sugar free popcicles and sf Jello thru the day.

it has been very hard because i have no restriction, i have only lost 9 pounds - 1 week liquids pre op - 8 days on liquids after sugery - then i am on pureed and mushy food for the last 5 days.

do not go for 1st fill till 6/5 - i am praying i can do it!!!!!!

good luck, let me know how you are doing.

It IS bandster hell, but I still say I'm eating less than HALF of what I used to before surgery....just wish the weight would come off a little faster...but, then again, it did take 20 years to put it on!!!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
